Pacific Coast Highway | Experience California by car!

Experience California by car, who does not dream of it and the Highway Number One also known as Pacific Coast Highway is best suited for it. This very popular, varied and beautiful dream road winds its way along the coast of the Pacific Ocean. It is called one of the most beautiful roads in the world and for us it is definitely.   It leads through tight hairpin bends and deep canyons, on impressive cliffs or on beautiful sandy beaches. That's why the Pacific Coast Highway is also next to Route 66, one of the most popular roads in California with motorcyclists.

The route from San Francisco in the north to Los Angeles in the south is probably the most famous and attractive part of this route in California with a length of about 750 km.

The PCH one of the most scenic roads in the world.

If you want to enjoy the scenery and the sea, then you drive on the Highway Number One. It offers great views of the sea with whipping waves and cliffs, on the other side the mountains. The view is really breathtaking, after each turn you discover something new. There are plenty of breakpoints from which to enjoy a magnificent view of the Pacific Ocean. There you can capture this beautiful, unforgettable moment in photos and the loved ones at home are sure to enjoy a picture via WhatsApp.

Now loud music and finished the California-Dream-Feeling!

ist immer wieder aufs Neue ein Erlebnis. Experiencing California by car is always an experience.

We love this road with the breathtaking, very varied landscape and the shimmering in all shades of blue Pacific. Part of the route leads past Oxnard past beautiful old oaks and the afterwards named place Thousand Oaks where we have our vacation home. This is the ideal base for a drive to Malibu, Santa Monica, or Longbeach on the Pacific Coast Highway or crossed by it.

We like to drive along the Pacific Coast Highway to Santa Barbara, a famous, American noble town right on the coast. Many well-known celebrities have settled in this wonderful place. Paul McCartney has a home here and also the Neverland Ranch of Michael Jackson, who unfortunately died prematurely, is hidden nearby in the mountains.

On the long beach promenade are meter-high palm trees and weigh easily in the wind. The sun shines from the blue sky on the small, white houses with red tiled roofs. Santa Barbara is the ideal place for a stroll on the quiet beach. Then treat yourself to a glass of wine or a piece of cake in one of the many street cafes. But man can also just delicious Wetzels Pretzels snack like me.

Experience California by car and enjoy wonderful impressions of which we can never get enough!

  • Really nice! Reminds me of the highway in Japan, which leads several hundred kilometers by the sea! Fantastically beautiful <3

  • Memories are awakened in your great article on the Highway Number One. I drove this route 20 years ago. Really an absolutely beautiful route.
    LG Tanya

    • Thank you Tanja, I can not wait to go there again. In ten days it's finally time, I'm really looking forward to it.
      LG Sigrid

  • Dear Sigrid, we also want to go there! We have just come back from our road trip along the east coast ... it was super nice, but I think the west coast is another number. Since we live in New York, we will make it to the West! Did you also drive on the piece, which was spilled in the last days by a landslide? The piece is unfortunately now locked for the next few months. Thanks for the great report! Greetings from the pond Katja

    • Dear Katja,
Thanks for your comment, no we did not drive this route. We travel mostly in the Santa Barbara, Los Angeles area because my son lives there with his family.
Unfortunately, we have not been to New York yet, which we would be very interested in and we really want to see.
      Greetings from Bavaria

  • Since you want to book the holiday immediately! Real great contribution. Thank you! =)

  • The Highway Number 1 ... with me are awakening memories again. I'm also a fan of the cool American cars. Now I have an automatic car with us as well, but back then they were rare ... and in America I enjoyed it very much. Last time I had an old Lincoln ... with whom I curled around. The impressions make it even more fun <3!

Greetings and have a nice day!

  • A real super beautiful highway, I love this wide and the feeling of freedom. With me, memories of my schooldays awake that I was allowed to spend partly in America. Thanks for that. I wish you a wonderful day

Hi! So, to be honest, we are in vacation planning and it should go further! California is high on the list and even higher after your mail! What bothers me a bit are the long car rides, but it is hardly different in the US!
And I want to discover so much ....

    Best regards,

  • Seraphina

I also really want to go to California! Beautiful pictures! 🙂

  • Wow, what beautiful impressions! Unfortunately, I've never been to the USA, but there are really nice places there. I like California very much. 🙂

    best regards

    Anna 🙂

  • Now I'm feeling wanderlust! Last summer we drove from San Francisco down to San Diego ... with a Mustang and it was so awesome. If I had the chance, I would do it again. There is nothing better? Great pictures ?

  • I love your reports and always read them up and down ....

I am sooo looking forward to my trip to America which hopefully will be in a few years :)))

There is so much input from your reports, thank you 🙂

  • And again, the wanderlust seizes me! Great impressions, thanks for that! LG Ronja

  • I love Highway No. 1! This is really the most beautiful street in the world - also in my eyes. Back then we drove the highway from north to south - over several days with many stops. Simply fantastic and absolutely recommendable. I want to go back!!!
    Love from

  • Wow. Perfectly. And the one beach picture, with the giant degree in the background, immediately reminds me of GTA5 😉
Since yes the city was copied in the game. Mega, a travel destination for us ^^.

Greetings and a nice Friday I wish you.

  • Thank you dear Sigrid! You've been so much the wanderlust in me in recent weeks that we've booked flights to LA 😀 I already know one corner or another but do you have any tips on whale watching? We are there in mid-October 🙂

    best regards

  • So I old gamers have now again GTA on the calculator, because the blog you get really wanderlust and I have no coal for sone USA round trip. 😀

    It greets,
    the backup gamer 😀

    • It's not that expensive, but you'll be earning enough money with your postcasts soon enough, then you can fly.
      Greeting Sigrid

  • In your reports, I always dream! I would also like to have seen the Neverland Ranch from so close. As a kid, it was always special when we watched Elvis movies together!

  • Hello Sigrid,

Your blog is always like a getaway that only ends when I have to move on and change sides. I like to stay here and stay a while. Your photos are always appealing and reflect what you see as a photographer. I find it difficult to take photos to shoot photos. The vastness, the feeling in countries like America and Canada or other countries, which are much larger than ours, is difficult to capture. You succeed very well!

I always get wanderlust and would like to emigrate to Canada like my brother. He's been there for 14 years.

    Many greetings

    • Thank you Daniel for your kind comment, I'm really happy about that. Although my photos are not always the best, at least all of me and I do not have to worry about copyright.
Emigration is just such a thing, my son always says I should come to California. But here I have a house, a good pension and my safety. There I would have to do it first and at 64 I do not think it would be possible. Only a lottery win helps ... laugh.
      best regards

  • Dear Sigrid

These are so beautiful pictures and impressions!

I think, if you have the opportunity, you should always rent a car in the US and travel around, you can take so many experiences home! ; oD

Thank you for the great report!

    Have a nice day!

    • Thank you, dear Jaqueline,
Driving along the coast by car is simply an unbeatable experience.
      Lovely wishes

  • Dear Sigrid,
Your blog post invites you to dream. How I would like to drive with just a camper down this highway and just let me drift. I really hope that someday I will finally travel to America and then go on a road trip.
    Best regards

  • Driving through America is also a dream my fiancé and I have cherished for a long time 🙂 maybe it will be a honeymoon 😉
Your pictures look very nice and make you really feel like a road trip.

  • Hello Sigrid,
your impressions are always the absolute madness and I get more and more wanderlust 🙂
    best regards
