Amoeba Music is an American independent music chain with locations in Berkeley, San Francisco and Hollywood. The first store was opened in 1990 in Berkeley and in 1997 San Francisco followed.

In November 2001, Amoeba Music opened its largest store on Sunset Boulevard in Hollywood. Considered the largest independent music store in the world, it presents the largest and most diverse collection of music and films ever seen under one roof.

We drove over the Cahuenga Blvd. in the direction of Sunset Blvd. to eat a bite at the Hollywood Highland Center. But that did not help, because I saw the colorfully painted building of Amoeba Music on the street side. I had already heard a lot about this record shop, and since I liked to go to record shops in my teens, he had been at the top of my list for a long time. Many music lovers like us visit this shop every day and now coincidence took us right there. We found a free car park in the associated underground car park and then went immediately to explore it thoroughly.

At the entrance we were totally overwhelmed by the atmosphere of the shop and the huge offer of articles. We felt like we had arrived in a land of milk and honey for music and film fans and could not stand it out in amazement.

Very interesting we found the original posters of rock concerts from the 60s, which you would not get so easily with us. Also, the wide selection of classical music, jazz, movies and books at Amoeba Music Los Angeles has inspired us.

Of course, Amoeba Music Los Angeles also offers very cheap used CDs, there is something for everyone and everyone can find some bargains. There are also special day specials, such as birthdays of stars, where you can then buy the matching products cheap. Information about such actions and much more can be found on Amoeba Music .

Of course Amoeba Music Los Angeles also has merchandise such as t-shirts, tote bags, key chains, postcards, etc. We are now drinking our coffee from amoebas and my grandson has a pin on the cupboard.

The staff are very nice and helpful and happy to help if you can not find your way around this great offer. The friendly man at the cash register has our grandson some stickers and postcards packed in the bag.

Amoeba Music Los Angeles is a cult shop that has something for everyone. No matter if rock, jazz, pop or classical the selection is very diverse in every genre.
