The most beautiful beaches in California from Santa Barbara to Los Angeles!
Los Angeles is surrounded by beautiful beaches and many of them are known throughout the world through film and television. Who does not know the Venice Beach, where Schwarzenegger trained, or the Zuma Beach in Malibu from Baywach with Pamela Anderson and David Hasselhoff.
These and some well-kept insider tips from the locals, I introduce you here.
One of the most expensive residential areas in the US, Santa Barbara is a posh place where many celebrities have settled.
There are beautiful beaches , with the mountains in the background a great sight and invite for a walk. My grandson loves to walk there and watch the yachts and sailboats on the deep blue Pacific
A walk there always reminds us very much of the European Mediterranean coast. Tall palm trees sway in the gentle breeze of the Pacific, and the sun is shining from a bright blue sky, as in Italy or Spain.
Carpinteria is a suburb of Santa Barbara next to the luxury resort of Montecito.
The State Beach is a small beach and the main attraction in the small noble town near Montecito. It is called the safest in the world because of its calm waves and is therefore less suitable for surfing. This jewel of fine sand is more suitable for swimming, lounging and picnicking with small children.
We like to visit him with our grandson, because the beach is not so crowded. He enjoys playing in the sand and having fun in the shallow water.
We walked through a beautiful natural landscape always the dunes in mind without suspecting what is behind it.
Once arrived on the dunes, a broad, endless, almost deserted sandy beach spread out in front of us, just as we know it from films. Some dog owners went for a walk and some jogging on the edge of the Pacific. The brave ones even enjoyed themselves in the water, even though it was quite windy and a bit chilly.
Mandalay State Beach is a sheltered beach in the Californian town of Oxnard. Part of the 92-hectare site is a nature reserve, also to protect nesting sites of various bird species.
Southern California has many incredible beaches, but one of the most beautiful near Los Angeles is El Matador State Beach near Malibu . It is located on the Pacific Coast Highway, about 10 miles west of Malibu, and offers fantastic waves and the clearest water in the area.
The unspoiled beach, a mix of water, birdlife and flora, offers long sandy beaches, sea caves and massive rocks for rock climbing. When the water level is low, you can explore the caves and walk through the rock formations.
El Matador State Beach is a very well known and great place for the perfect photo and therefore very popular with photographers. It is suitable with its worth seeing backdrop for photo sessions of all kinds.
Der Paradise Cove Beach in Malibu ist ein Strand am Pacific Coast Highway nahe dem Zuma Beach, welcher durch gute Beschilderung leicht zu finden ist. Due to the paid parking the beach is not as crowded as others in Malibu. Paradise Cove is an ideal base for long beach walks along the coast, past beautiful rock formations. Towards the east you will find impressive villas and private beaches. It is a perfect place to spend a great time with family or friends, or treat yourself to a relaxing day on a sun lounger that you can rent there.

Driving on the Pacific Coast Highway towards Malibu, you will see after a while many cars that are parked close to the roadside. It shows that you are approaching one of the most famous and beautiful beaches in California, Zuma Beach .
Fine sand, picturesque and very clean is the beach and it offers a great view of the blue and turquoise shimmering Pacific. Here you can for example jog, swim, surf, fish, dive or play volleyball.
Known from Baywatch!
The Zuma Beach is just as you know it from the countless TV shows of Baywatch. There are the well-known lifeguards, the yellow jeeps and the lifeguards' observation towers, which are on the beach all day long.
The beach in Santa Monica is very spacious, wide and well maintained but mostly very crowded and you will not find a quiet spot. Comfortably lying in the sun, this is unfortunately not possible on this beach, it is more of a beach for those who want to be active outdoors. Cycling, skating, surfing, volleyball and exercising, even an outdoor chess game is there.
We like to walk with our grandson over the promenade or along the beach to the Santa Monica pier . From there you have a wonderful view of the ocean, of the extensive beach and the coast of Santa Monica.
It is also a very popular place with locals and tourists to watch the sunset.
In Marina del Rey, the visitor was greeted by a beautiful, wide, miles-long and almost deserted beach , where you can swim undisturbed and enjoy the sun. It is very well maintained and much quieter and less crowded than Venice or for example Santa Monica. That's why we often go to this beach when we want to lie down in the sun and relax.
We watch the surfers frolicking in the water or take a walk along the coast towards Venice and Santa Monica, which can be seen in the distance.
These beaches are among the most beautiful beaches in California for us and we visit them regularly. Of course there are others, more about that next time.
